Fujifilm began in 1934 as Fuji Photo Film, founded to manufacture photographic film domestically in Japan. It entered cameras with the Fujica Six in 1948, pioneered the one-time-use camera with QuickSnap in 1986, and announced one of the world's first fully digital cameras in 1988. After film demand collapsed in the 2000s, the company diversified into medical imaging, materials, and healthcare while rebuilding its camera business around the X Series and the GFX medium-format system. Its Instax instant line remains one of the imaging industry's great commercial successes.
